Is the employee having flexible hours really worth it to the company?
Well, before answering that, let's go back in time a bit.
Industrial Revolution
With the arrival of the industrial revolution, it was necessary for workers to have extremely strict schedules in their work routine, from the time of entry, lunch and exit.
Over the decades, a lot has changed, but the work routine has remained standardized within the famous business hours, at least until now.
In a more technological world, working flexibly is getting easier.
The fast communication and the great accessibility of a flexible remote work has been gaining more strength in Brazil and in the world.
According to a survey recently conducted by ManpowerGroup.
Conducted in Brazil and in 18 other countries, the survey “Work, for Me – understanding candidates' demand for flexibility” with more than 14 professionals, aged 18 to 65, who are currently working indicates that:
38% of respondents take this issue into account when choosing a company to work for.
Among Brazilians, the rate is 31%.
But after all, how can your business value the hours of its employees?
The flexible working hours, as it is also known, is directly linked to the reduction of office costs, whether from day-to-day bills to the amount of rent, and the reduction of overtime payments.
In addition to the direct increase in productivity, as employees tend to choose the best time to arrive or leave work.
Thus reconciling with the commitments of their lives, avoiding peak traffic hours, if it is a face-to-face job.
This makes employees feel more valued.
It's time to multiply your sales
There are still managers who are afraid that the flexibility of schedules or workplaces will result in the total loss of control of their teams.
This is not true, when the employee decides to carry out an activity at a certain time, he tends to finish it faster than at a fixed time that may not be the most appropriate.
It is also clear that this type of journey needs supervision, like any other, in addition to monitoring at least weekly compliance with goals and deadlines.
Benefits of Flexible Hours
Just as it is known that flexibility can increase your company's profits.
As well as increasing team productivity, reducing employee turnover and consequently retaining talent, among other benefits.
This is something the UK Department for Business, Innovation and Skills was able to notice after extending flexible working rights to all workers, not just parents or carers.
According to the Department, flexible working could add £475m to the country's economy over a decade.
Flexible working is a trend that is here to stay.
New technologies breaking down national and international borders, making it possible to work with people from different places and time zones around the world.
Making the business environment lighter and less tense, and mainly, much more productive.
